Another Sydney school has been shut down after a student tested positive for COVID-19.
The case was at St Gertrude’s Catholic Primary School, in Smithfield, NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant revealed on Friday.
The school will be closed for deep cleaning and all staff and students forced into self-isolation.
It is the second educational facility hit by a COVID-19 case in the past 24 hours after a staff member at Ryde Secondary College tested positive.
Ryde will be also closed on Friday while it is cleaned and contact tracing is completed.
“All staff and students are asked to self-isolate while contact tracing occurs,” the education department said in a statement.
