Haryana schools will reopen for classes 6 to 8 from February 1 onwards. The decision to reopen classes for 1 to 5 would be taken by the government after February 15.
Haryana government has decided to reopen schools in the state from February 1 for classes 6 to 8. The announcement was made by Education Minister Kanwar Pal on Wednesday. A decision to reopen primary schools for classes 1 to 5 would be taken after February 15, 2021. The schools will reopen after a gap of 10 months since March 2020.
The state education minister while speaking to Indian Express said, “The Covid-19 cases are gradually coming down and the situation has improved. Moreover, the vaccination drive has also begun. So, we have decided to reopen schools for classes 6 to 8 from February first week. The schools will have to follow all guidelines related to face masks, sanitizers, and social distancing.”
On reopening of schools for the primary classes, the education minister said that no decision has been taken. The government has decided to evaluate the situation and make a decision about primary classes after February 15.
The state government had earlier decided that schools in Haryana for classes 1 to 8 will reopen closed for the time being and online classes would continue. As for examinations, the assessment for students of classes 1 to 8 would be done online from January through the AVSAR app developed by the Education Minister.
Meanwhile, schools for classes 10, 12 reopened from December 14, and classes 9, 11 reopened from December 21 onwards in the state. The schools across the state- private and government were directed to operate for 3 hours from 10 am to 1 pm for both classes.
