Education Minister S Rajen Singh visited colleges and schools in Imphal West and Imphal East today.

As a part of the ongoing inspection visit to colleges and schools the team visited Manipur College, Maharaj Budhachandra College, Modern College Porompat, Standard College Kongba, Ideal Girls College Akampat, Eastern Model Govt High School Akampat today.

During his visit the Minister inspected classrooms and checked whether classes are conducted following SOPs prescribed by the Education Department.

At Manipur College, Rajen was joined by Speaker Y Khemchand.

He instructed school and college authorities to strictly adhere to the SOPs and also checked the attendance registers of the teaching and non-teaching staff.

He warned that irregular and absent staff will be penalized accordingly.

The Minister said that surprise visits to schools and colleges will continue in order to ensure smooth conduct of classes and regular attendance of the staff and students.

He also appealed to the teachers, guardians, students and other civil organisations to cooperate with the new initiative of the Government on the reopening of educational institutions in the State.

Director of Education (U) Dr Rangitabali Waikhom IAS, Joint Director Ojit Singh and others were also present during the visit.
